internship in Amersfoort with AlkyonI am Najat Amarjouf a second year student in applied geosciences at Mohammed Premier University (Oujda, Morocco). My thesis project is about the mediterranen seashore of Nador district (North East of Morocco), I am studiying its problems mostly through hydrological modelling.
When the new project (Harbour on the mouth of the Kert river) started on july 2009, I contacted the National Ports Agency in Nador and they suggested I contact the Alkyon society. After a long period of correspondance with members of this compagny, I had an internship proposition that I accepted and that is how I am here in Amersfoort at the main office of Alkyon consulting.
During this internship, I am to perform a hydrological model of the Kert river basin using the SOBEK softwear. It is a very good opportunity for me to improve my knowledge in GIS and modelling especially hydrological modelling. It will be good to benefit from the experience of Alkyon's experts.
I regret that my university in Oujda doesn’t have a cooperation with Netherland concerning water and environment especially hydrological modelling, it would have made my internship here easier. So I am hoping a cooperation will be established in the future.
