Project information
Haskoning Nederland B.V. has won the international tender for the supervision of the construction of the expansion and modernization of the Port of Palmeira, Phase 1 and 2. The name of this project is “Modernization and Expansion of the Port of Palmeira”.
Description of project
The project works have been divided into two phases. The first phase is in progress and is planned to be completed at the end of September. The construction works of both phases are described next:Phase 1: Prolongation and enlargement of the existing quay, including seawall, slope protection, navigational aids, and the development of land infrastructures.
The construction of this Phase 1 has already been contracted to the MOTA-Engil / CPTP / Armando Cunha consortium.Phase 2: Construction of a new quay, parallel to the existing one, located at the West side of it, including access road, seawall, slope protection, navigational aids, and several buildings in the new Port complex.
For the construction of Phase 2 an international tender will be launched in the course of 2010.
