Besides their military effort, the Netherlands work on the economic reconstruction of Afghanistan as well. Companies willing to invest work together in the 'Werkgroep Economische Wederopbouw Afghanistan' (WEWA). However, deploying business activities in this country remains difficult.

Ferendi and WEWA have proposed the EVD an identification of business prospects in Afghanistan. These can be found on the areas of agriculture, water, energy and financial services, for example.
