The impressive life of an intern in Juba

One day you are the intern, the next day you find yourself being a conference coordinator. Currently my main activity is organising a conference on best practices of capacity building in Southern Sudan. Different organisations will present key factors that made their approaches a success. My responsibility now is to follow up with presenters, provide them with guidelines ‘How to present best practices’ and to collect their papers. In the meanwhile I have booked a venue and I have written invitations which will be send out next Friday. Then I will have to get in touch with the media, register participants and take notes during the meeting. Eventually we will produce a conference paper. I hope I can contribute in this as well. So far, I have enjoyed organising this conference very much and I get to meet many interesting people from different organisations and ministries.

Besides running around Juba to organise the conference I am still supporting the responsive window. The proposals from the ten states came in and I evaluated what experts is exactly asked for. Also I have listed all the hardware asked for so we now we know how many computers we need in total. Now I will recommend service providers from our database which might then be shortlisted for the different projects.

I must say, writing down my activities and realising what I have reached so far does make me proud. Sometimes you just need to do things to find out what you are actually capable of.
